Today, I’m delighted to announce the release of the seventh book in the Harbor Pointe Series: A Death at the Inn. I’ve read every novella in the series, and I love them all! You can find the series HERE.

A Death at the Inn by Joan Hall book coverA surreal weekend. Four people, all with a common connection, coming together without one another’s knowledge. And death lurks in the dark.

‘Daryl Warren glanced at the clock, drained the last drop of bourbon from his glass, then signalled the bartender. “Another, please.” He promised himself not to get drunk. He’d wait until the weekend for that.’ … From this intriguing opening line, the author leads us through the deftly woven threads of various characters, who each gravitate to the Harbor Pointe Inn. What they don’t know is that they’re all headed to the same destination, at the same time, and for the same reason: A death at the Inn.

True to life characters with complex dialogue and interactions, together with vivid scenery, all come together to make this a compelling and memorable read. Deftly, the author inserts subtle hints and red herrings, which produce excellent foreshadowing.

The tension builds gradually and keeps the reader gripped, and then grabs you by the throat with a sudden surge of suspense, as evidenced by the following line … ‘If she could keep him talking long enough, maybe Daryl or the others would come upstairs.’ Will she make it?

Then there are the truisms and believable human reactions … ‘None of us can live our lives based on ‘what ifs.’ ‘

If you like a good, cosy mystery/thriller, then you’ll love this read. Go and buy this book! As you may have guessed, A Death at the Inn gets five stars from me.
