The Emissary 2: To Love Somebody is Now Available on Amazon
Hello everyone! Today, it gives me great pleasure to have author Marcia Meara come and visit to showcase her new book …
Thank you so much, Harmony, for having me here today on your blog. I’m so happy to be sharing my latest release, The Emissary 2: To Love Somebody, with you and your followers.
This is the Middle Child of my Emissary trilogy, and I found it interestingly tricky to write a novella that bridged the gap between Book 1 and Book 3, yet was entertaining in its own right. I hope I’ve managed to make that work. For me, it was just as much fun to hang out with Jake, Dodger, and Azrael this time around as it was the first, especially since they spent so much time traveling the highways of Florida, visiting places I’m very familiar with. Hopefully, the blurb and short excerpt below will tempt some of your followers to ride along in Jake’s big red and white semi, and see just what kinds of trouble Jake and Dodger can get up to. All I can say is, it’s a good thing they have an angel on their side.
Both Book 1 and Book 2 of the trilogy are quick, easy reads, which are definitely not meant to be viewed as any sort of religious dogma. Rather, they are merely excursions into a bit of “what-if-ery,” with a few nuggets of universal truths scattered throughout.
When I get the third novella of this trilogy finished, I’ll be combining all three into a set I can offer in print as well as eBook format. But for now, folks looking for a bit of Urban Fantasy Lite can download Books 1 and 2 and find out for themselves exactly what’s expected from the world’s first Emissaries to the Angels.
Note: I do need to point out that The Emissary 2: To Love Somebody is the middle book of the Emissary Trilogy, and not a stand-alone novella. With that in mind, Book 1, The Emissary, can be downloaded HERE.
BLURB
They’re back!
Jake and Dodger, the first (and so far, only) Emissaries to the Angels, are on the road again.
They’re looking for mortals about to take a wrong turn. You know the ones—the kid thinking about stealing from a corner market or the man planning to lie about a coworker and destroy her career. Yeah, them. People on the brink of making a mistake that could send them down that wrong road and jeopardize their mortal souls.
Of course, there are rules by which the emissaries must play, and the archangel Azrael stands ready to enforce them. First and foremost, a person’s free will must never be compromised. Emissaries are allowed to use only the smallest of mental nudges. Thankfully, a whispered suggestion here or images of a better course of action there is usually all it takes. The potential mugger walks on by. The thief drops the wallet back into the unattended purse. But whether the results are obvious or not, Jake and Dodger are fully committed to making a positive difference, even as they struggle with issues of their own.
Will Dodger get over losing his chance to learn what true love is all about? Will Jake survive the grueling angelic equivalent of Boot Camp? Will Azrael ever finish the Official Emissarial Guidebook—including the chapter titled Do Not Even Think About It?
One thing’s for sure—Jake’s and Dodger’s strengths are growing daily, as they help more and more people make better choices. But is the price for so much power higher than they’re willing to pay?
EXCERPT
(Jake, Dodger, and the archangel Azrael)
Dumbfounded by the angel’s apology, Jake sat stunned. Dodger, however, reacted very differently.
“Whoa, whoa. Wait a minute. You’re not serious, are you? You, telling us you’re sorry? After everything you’ve done for us? I mean, yeah, we have a problem we need your help with, for sure, but no way you gotta be apologizing to us for not gettin’ here sooner. We might not be able to understand all the stuff you have on your plate, but we know it’s full. We agreed to do this because we wanna make a difference in the world, and we knew goin’ in it wouldn’t be easy. I’m the one who should be sorry, here. I was bitchin’ and moanin’ about a few days’ wait, when you’re off somewhere trying to keep people from killin’ each other wholesale, and I’m sorry for that. I was being a pain in the ass … er, neck.”
“Well said, Dodger. Azrael, in spite of our grumblings, we do understand that we are only one small part of what you do—what you’ve done for centuries upon centuries. We want to do our jobs right, and yes, we will need your help now and then, especially since we’re still learning. But we’re more grateful than we can say that you chose us to be your emissaries. The job isn’t always easy, but I’m pretty sure I speak for both of us when I say we don’t regret taking it on, at all. Not even when you can’t respond to us as quickly as we might wish. We know you won’t abandon us and will come when you can, and we don’t expect you to apologize for being busy with other affairs of the world.”
The three of them were quiet for a minute, then Dodger couldn’t stand the silence any longer. “Well, now that you’re here and all, have you figured out what we’re going to do about training?” He shrugged at Jake. “What? He’s sittin’ right here, so we may as well find out what’s goin’ on, right?”
Azrael made an odd sound deep down in his chest. Jake stared. Dodger stared. The noise turned into a chuckle and the chuckle, into a surprisingly hearty laugh. When he caught his breath, he bestowed his beautiful smile on the boy. “You are a priceless gem, Dodger.” The angel shook his head and chuckled once more. “In all the centuries of my existence, I have never been spoken to as though I were simply another mortal.”
Dodger bit his lower lip. “Um … is that a good thing?”
“In your case, I think yes. But do not let it go to your head.”

Author Marcia Meara
Marcia Meara lives in central Florida, just north of Orlando, with her husband of over thirty years, four big cats, and two small dachshunds. When not writing or blogging, she spends her time gardening, and enjoying the surprising amount of wildlife that manages to make a home in her suburban yard. At the age of five, Marcia declared she wanted to be an author, and is ecstatic that at age 69, she finally began pursuing that dream. Her belief in the redemptive power of love is a unifying factor in both of her popular series and her poetry. Today, she’s still going strong, and plans to keep on writing until she falls face down on the keyboard, which she figures would be a pretty good way to go!
Marcia has published six novels, one novella, and one book of poetry to date, all of which are available on Amazon:

A Boy Named Rabbit: Wake-Robin Ridge Book 2
Harbinger: Wake-Robin Ridge Book 3

Thanks for hosting Marcia, Harmony. So nice to see her making the rounds.
Marcia, wishing you all the best.
Congratulations to Marcia!! Thanks for sharing, Harmony.
Thanks, Jan! ??
Thanks so much, Jan! It was lovely of Harmony to help me get the word out! 🙂
Love the excerpt. Looking forward to reading them both – might wait for the third and read them all back to back.
So delighted you liked the excerpt, Mary ?
Glad you enjoyed it, Mary. It was fun (and challenging) trying to find brief excerpts for each of the 7 bloggers. When a story is only 105 pages, you can’t make them too long, or by blog #7, you’ll have told the whole thing. 😀 Hope you’ll enjoy these characters when you get a chance to read, whether you do it all at once, or one by one. Thanks for stopping by today! 🙂 *hugs*
I loved the first book and have one on my Kindle and look forward to reading it! (Probably around Christmas)
That’s great, Hywela ?
Thanks, Lyn! Hope you’ll enjoy this one, too, when you have a chance to read it. 🙂
Congrats on your new release and tour. I plan on making these part of my December reading:)
Oh, that’s lovely to know, Denise. The good news is, they are each only 105 or so pages, and can be read in an evening, so you won’t lose too much time checking them out. Hope you’ll enjoy them when you do! Thanks for stopping by today, and taking time to say hello! 🙂
They look like great December reading! Thanks, Denise ?
You gotta love Azrael. I know I do 🙂
Actually I love all of these characters and I loved both books. For anyone who hasn’t read them yet, I rated both five stars. Fantastic tales you don’t want to miss.
Congrats, Marcia!
Yep, I absolutely have to read these two, Mae. Especially if you’ve rated them so highly! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
I’m so glad you love Azrael. While all three of these guys are special to me, Azrael does hit notes that are unique to him and often make me laugh out loud as I type. And your review of TE1 definitely kept me inspired as I wrote TE2. So glad you enjoyed them BOTH! 😀 Thanks!!
Thank you again for having me here today, Harmony! I am truly excited about this little novella and how well it’s being received, and I hope your followers enjoyed the brief excerpt. Your support and encouragement is greatly appreciated! 🙂 <3
You’re so welcome, Marcia! It’s great to have you here. I wish you all the very best with your books. Both of these are on my TBR, which keeps growling at me from the corner, telling me ‘No more!’ lol.
You MUST start by telling that cantankerous TBR pile to PIPE DOWN! *tsk* We can’t have them turning on us, now can we? Eeep.
Hopefully, when you find time to read these tales, you’ll enjoy them. In the meantime, thanks for helping me get the word out! 🙂 <3
