Today, I’m delighted to announce the release of the second book in the Harbor Pointe Series: The Gift. I’ve read every novella in the series, and I love them all! You can find the series HERE.

‘A scream echoes through the snow-laden branches of redwood trees that crowd an old Chevy pickup.’ From this gripping opening line, the author drags the reader into the scary world of Shelly, a young woman of 16 who finds herself pregnant, rejected by her parents, and alone in a snowstorm. To make matters worse, her truck runs out of fuel in a remote forested wilderness, and Shelly goes into early labour.

This is a heart wrenching and heart-warming story of struggle, determination, the kindness of strangers, and—ultimately—redemption through forgiveness. Faith and the importance of community thread throughout this narrative, with characters that make us root for them and care what happens. Below are some lines I loved …

‘Evidence of little Annie was nowhere to be seen, even though she lived in their broken hearts.’

And …

‘Basically, I need someone on the ground who cares as much as I do. Someone I can depend upon to assess situations quickly and mobilize. I want this area preserved for our kids’ kids.’ … An important reminder in this day and age, where climate change and the destruction of natural habitats is a real problem.

And …

‘He sits and stares blankly, reviewing the last hour. A job, a home, and—soon—a marriage.’ … A wonderful reflection on how life can turn on a hairpin without warning.

If you like cosy reads about family, community, coming of age, and coming to terms, you are sure to love this book. The Gift by G M Plano gets a solid five stars, and I highly recommend this feel-good read.
